[- i ka'βana], Morẹto y Cabana, Agustín, spanischer Dramatiker, getauft Madrid 9. 4. 1618, ✝ Toledo 26. oder 27. 10. 1669; aus wohlhabender italienischer Familie; Priester, seit 1657 Kaplan des Erzbischofs von Toledo. Sein umfangreiches dramatisches Werk steht in der Nachfolge von P. Calderón de la Barca, mit dem er befreundet war; es handelt sich in vielen Fällen um gelungene humorvolle und moralisierende Wiederaufnahmen früherer Stücke (»refundiciones«), u. a. von Lope F. de Vega Carpio. Seine gelungensten Comedias sind »El desdén con el desdén« (1654; deutsche Bearbeitung unter dem Titel »Donna Diana«, Vorlage zu E. N. von Rezničeks Oper) und die Charakterkomödie »El lindo Don Diego« (1662; deutsch »Der Unwiderstehliche«). M. y C. verfasste auch Autos sacramentales und sehr erfolgreiche Zwischenspiele.
